Meet the team

Richard Martin

Managing Director

Richard has extensive corporate and international trade experience in Australia, the Middle East, Southeast Asia and the South Pacific. In 2014 Richard established a highly successful engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) firm, AEES Group, (now merged with Acacia Energy) focused on ‘generating cost reduction and sustainability change’ through deploying renewable energy technologies to commercial businesses.

Acacia Energy delivers large-scale Behind-The-Meter commercial PV, generation and storage systems aimed at automating; Demand Response, FCAS, Pool Price Autobid and Demand Management solutions. Richard is also a graduate of the Climate Reality Leadership Corps training with Al Gore in Florida, USA.

Stephen Thomson

Chief Operating Officer

For over 25 years Stephen has operated in senior executive and advisory roles in the Australian and Southeast Asian electricity and gas markets.  His experience spans leading business start-ups, running energy markets, industry transformation and advising on market reform.

Stephen leverages his deep understanding of energy markets and business value drivers to identify, implement and operate solutions that maximise customer value.

Stephen is an Alumnus of the Harvard Business School, USA.

 

Allan Young

General Manager – Sales

With over 30 years of experience in sales and senior management across media, finance, and renewable energy sectors, Allan is passionate about driving the transition to renewables. His career is built on innovative solutions and strategic relationships, which have consistently delivered positive results for his clients and stakeholders.

Allan is renowned for building and nurturing strategic partnerships that deliver mutual benefits and long-term success. Allan holds a post graduate cert. in Business Management and a diploma of Sales Management.

David Carty

General Manager – Technical Sales

David is a passionate advocate of the renewables and energy management sector. He brings this expertise to the technical aspects of our customer solutions.  David employs a methodical and consultative approach, focusing on delivering value by empowering clients to control and manage their energy costs through long-term sustainable strategies.

David also leads our Maintenance and Service division to ensure your Renewable Energy investment performs at its optimum level.

Andrew Conacher

Sales Manager

Andrew has over 30 years’ experience building client relationships and solution delivery in business and software. He loves the renewables industry, and specialises in small and large scale Solar, Battery and Energy management projects across a range of industries.

Andrew’s strength is advocating strongly for his customers to ensure energy projects are delivered on time and within budget. He will be delighted to demonstrate how Acacia Energy can solve your energy pain points.

Riley van de Loo

Engineering Manager

Riley Van de Loo is an electrical and electronics engineer with a bachelor’s degree (with honours) from RMIT university. Riley has developed a proprietary, cloud-based platform; “Optimised Bid Engine” (OBE) that works to minimise the cost of energy for a customer’s site through real-time optimised management of onsite energy assets. Riley has developed renewable energy solutions for complex sites and specialises in demand management, VPPs, C&I Battery Storage and synchronisation of Behind-the-Meter Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) to the grid.

Tara Hou

Office Manager

Tara has a background in management and accounting that allows for smooth business operations. Tara completed her Master of International Business and an MBA in Professional Accounting from Deakin University.

Tara’s extensive experience across both management and professional accounting roles throughout Asia and Australia provide her with the tools to ensure business runs efficiently.

David Fry

Maintenance Sales Manager

David runs our Maintenance and services division to ensure your renewable energy plant operates at its best. He has over 25 years experience with client Relationship Management in business, private and corporate sectors of banking, with 5 years’ experience in the renewables industry. . David has also project managed several State Government tenders. David’s qualifications include a Bachelor of Business – Banking & Finance.
