Renewable Energy Solutions

The range of Renewable Energy Solutions that are considered, and their associated benefits, are set out below:

Renewable Energy Solution
Solar PV Embedded Generation  Use of sun to displace expensive Grid Sourced electricity, reducing c/kWh charges on electricity bills.  Subject to timing of electricity demand, this may mitigate $/KVA charges on electricity bills also.

Fixes the cost of a proportion of electricity consumption over 20 years. 

Delivers significant carbon reduction with associated income from VEECs
Battery Energy Storage System (BESS)  Local storage of excess solar generation which can be time shifted to further displace expensive Grid Sourced electricity.  This is higher in value than exporting to the grid.

Protection of critical loads from Black Outs. 

Mitigates impact of Brown Outs critical load. 

Further carbon reduction with associated income from VEECs. 
Bio-Diesel Enabled Generation  Backup power during Black Outs, mitigating production losses.

Displace Grid Sourced electricity to satisfy high demand and mitigate DNSP Demand charges. 

Carbon reduction contribution through lower carbon intensity of bio-diesel with associated income from LGCs. 
Autonomous Monitoring and Control  Autonomous operation of Bio-Diesel Enabled Generation and/or BESS via Acacia Energy’s OBE Platform to respond to wholesale market pricing, mitigating retail electricity charges.

Autonomous bidding into the Frequency Control Ancillary Services (FCAS) market and responding to FCAS events, generating new revenue to offset retail electricity charges. 
Renewable Energy PPAs – Solar and BESS  Displaces volatile retail electricity consumption charges (c/kWh).

Fixes the cost of a proportion of electricity consumption over period of PPA, e.g. 20 years. 

Delivers carbon reduction with associated reduction in environmental charges on electricity bill. 
Bio Gas Generation Converting waste to energy to displace expensive Grid Sourced electricity, reducing c/kWh charges on electricity bills.  Subject to timing of electricity demand, this may mitigate $/KVA charges on electricity bills also.

Acacia Energy's Cost Benefit Analysis Tool

Acacia Energy has developed a proprietary Cost Benefit Analysis Tool (CBAT) to perform the detailed analysis of each Renewable Energy Solution option that is considered. 

The CBAT takes the inputs and performs a full simulation of how each element of a Renewable Energy Solution would have operated if installed in each 30-minute interval of the year which matches to the meter data that has been provided and selects the optimal value for controllable assets (BESS and Bio-Diesel Enabled Generation) for each interval on the basis that Autonomous Monitoring and Control has been deployed. 

This therefore determines the optimal value for each Renewable Energy Solution across the entire year, based on the performance of the solution elements in each interval of the National Electricity Market. 

This unparalleled resolution of analysis ensures that we are providing the most robust analysis and recommendations possible.
