Austco Polar Cold Storage deployed 450kW of solar plus a 700 KVA generator to reduce electricity costs and secure power for its cold storage facility.

The Challenge

Faced with high energy costs, high demand charges and the risk of high costs from supply outages, Austco Polar Cold Storage was seeking to displace grid sourced electricity and protect itself from supply outages.

The Solution

Acacia Energy designed, procured and installed a 450kW ground mounted solar system, a 545 kVA grid-synchronised bio-diesel generator (configured as an embedded generator) and a new main switchboard. Acacia Energy will provide its Generation Services for 7 years whereby we autonomously control the generator to continually achieve the lowest cost electricity for operations.

The Impact

The Acacia Energy renewable energy solution delivers energy savings of 67% through displacing grid sourced energy, avoiding critical peak demand charges and creating new revenue streams
